IGNOU Mini Prospectus of M.A (Translation Studies)

IGNOU Mini Prospectus of Master Degree in Translation Studies offers admission to MA in Translation Studies (On Campus Full Time). The teaching is undertaken at IGNOU campus, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. The teaching is carried out by the faculty of SOTST and eminent academicians/experts in the field of translation studies from premier national and international institutions.
Programme Structure:
The duration of MA in Translation Studies is of 2 years, spread over 4 semesters. The students will have to earn 64 credits. Each semester will have 4 courses of 4 credits each. Some of the areas that the programme will include are translation theories, comparative Asian and Western traditions of translation, applied translation (machine translation, official/legal/banking translation), translation and mass communication, translation and inter-cultural studies and translation and linguistics. There will be extensive practical work for learners. The last semester is Project Work. The entrance test will be broadly covering the above mentioned areas besides lexicography, technical terminology, translation processes and training aspects of translators.
Medium Of Instruction:Hindi and English.
Eligibility Criteria : Graduate in any discipline with Hindi and English as a subject at degree level or with adequate knowledge of Hindi and English.
Duration : 2 years (4 Semesters)
Fee : Rs. 1,000.00 per Semester
Mode of Selection : Admission will be based on entrance test at Delhi.
Students Intake : 20 students per academic year.
