IGNOU to Organize International Conference on Conflict Management, Peace Economics & Peace science on 11-13 January 2010

An international conference on Conflict Management, Peace Economics and Peace Science is being organized by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), and Gandhi Smriti & Darshan Samiti, (GS&DS), New Delhi and is scheduled for 11-13 January 2010.
Economists for Peace and Security International (USA), International Center for Conflict Prevention and Management (Australia), State University of New York at Binghamton (USA) are the other institutional co-sponsors of this important academic enterprise. Suggested themes for discussion are: Interface of Peace Studies and Peace Science, Gandhian Peace Studies, Arms Control. Nuclear Proliferation, Peace Science Methodology and Theory, Democracy and Conflict, Coalition Politics, Linkage of Internal and External Conflict, Ethnic Conflict, Resource Conflict, Global Warming, International Trade and Financial Crisis, Disaster Management, Terrorism, Empirical Case Studies of South Asian countries and Crisis of Identity and Conflict Management.

IGNOU National Seminar on Technology Enhanced Collaboration for Improving Quality of Education

IGNOU and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to held National Seminar on Technology Enhanced Collaboration for Improving Quality of Education at Elementary Level from February 24, 2010 to February 26, 2010 at the varsity’s Convention Centre. Since continuous professional development is a challenge for the administrators, policy makers and implementers at the elementary education level, it is important to develop a system thorough which every individual can collaborate and support continuous professional development of each other. The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) work as District Resource Centre in the state and provide academic support for organizing training activities in the state. Thus, teacher educators working at different levels to be linked in the collaborative project is huge, and the potential benefits would be manifold including the motivational, and knowledge enhancement aspects. In this approach, It is essential to facilitate the teacher educators to contribute and develop learning resources to support each other.

The material so developed would be a national resource for the capacity building of teacher and other functionaries associated with education of children at elementary level. Therefore, it is important that a simple technology is used, and teachers are trained to use the collaborative technology. It is high time to think for a technology enhanced collaborative approach with the effective integration of emerging technologies for the recurrent training of teachers under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
